Shawn D. Harris

Shawn Harris is a respected law enforcement and security professional, licensed private investigator and founder of MA1 Security & Investigative Services. Mr. Harris began his security and law enforcement career when he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his career, he deployed to various locations as a Master-at-Arms (MA) in support of military operations including; Vieques, PR, New Orleans, LA, Washington DC, Coronado, CA, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  In 2005, MA1 Harris deployed to Iraq as a member of the Navy’s first Provisional Detainee Battalion where he lead a team responsible for transporting High Value Detainees (HVD’s) throughout Iraq and other anti-terrorism related duties. MA1 Harris has received numerous personal awards in recognition for his service during his twenty-three (23) year career in the Navy. In 2018, Mr. Harris retired from his military career after serving for 28 years.

Mr. Harris continued his life of service when he joined the Police Department in his hometown of Mount Vernon, NY. During his career he served in many roles and assignments including; Emergency Services Unit, Mayor’s Security Detail, School Resource Officer, Internal Affairs Investigator and Patrol Sergeant. In 2016, he was appointed as Deputy Police Commissioner with the City of Mount Vernon, NY Police Department. He later served as Commissioner of Public Safety and retired in January 2020. Mr. Harris founded MA1 Security & Investigative Services in 2019 after he saw the need for quality security services for special events and investigative support throughout his career. During his dual military and law enforcement career, he has acquired extensive experience in security operations, planning and management. This experience was essential to his success in his role as a Security Manager with a major New York City real estate developer whose team was responsible for the implementation of access control, video surveillance, alarm monitoring and other electronic security systems at One World Trade Center.

Shawn C. Hobson

Shawn Hobson is a retired United States Navy veteran who has a lifetime of public service. He is currently active with the New York State Unified Court System as a Senior Court Officer where he specializes in building security, and personal protection of Judges and other court officials. Prior to his current role, Mr. Hobson served with the New York City Police Department and New York City Department of Corrections. Mr. Hobson is a respected professional who has over 30 years of security and law enforcement experience related to special events, personal protection, buildings and facilities, emergency action planning and physical security.
